it's a great article. there are only two things in the entirety of the piece i don't quite understand. the first is the assertion that corporate profits are on a downward trend. they're not. by virtue of ongoing 'cost-cutting,' businesses are sacrificing longterm production growth as a means to continue profit growth. certainly it's a process that will end at some point, but it hasn't yet.
ReplyDeleteand the second is suggesting that the infrastructure rebuilding program of the new administration won't solve anything. the SWP has been calling for just such a massive building program for years now. why the reverse?
otherwise the analysis is spot-on, and yet another example that the SWP is almost alone among leftist groups in properly understanding the motivations and feelings of working people in this country.
