Victims of cop violence deserve a struggle we can win

  1. Excuse me, but by all accounts the protests in Dallas WERE a "disciplined and organized effort." It was a peaceful, legal demonstration, hardly "reckless." The fact that one deranged individual took matters into his own hands and assassinated five cops does nothing to detract from this. The author is right, of course, that this act sets back the struggle against police brutality.

From what I've heard, the statement by the Black Lives Matter spokesperson in Dallas after the killings hit all the right notes. He condemned the killings, conveyed his condolences to the families of the slain officers, condemned all violence and expressed BLM's determination to continue fighting for justice. All in all an exemplary response.

I realize the first reaction from SWP supporters these days when things go badly is to condemn the oppressed and fighters against oppression for their bad luck. "Fox News Socialism" from Mr. D'Agostino!

    1. Thank you for your comment, Mr. Barzman.

Harry wrote his comment and I reposted it on my own initiative before the facts about the Dallas sniper were reported.

I think the trollish characterization "Fox News Socialist" is no worse an epithet than, say, me calling someone a "The Nation Socialist."

It is interesting that you only comment on articles I post where you can express your horror that the SWP is not afraid to approach and talk to workers who may describe themselves as Republican or conservative.
