Willson lost both legs below the knee in 1987 when he was intentionally run over by a US Navy munitions train at the Concord, California Naval Weapons Station, while engaging in a peaceful blockade against weapons being shipped to El Salvador.
He is a Vietnam veteran who wartime experiences transformed him into a revolutionary nonviolent pacifist.
